Sugar Loaf State Park is located 2 miles East of Hwy 12 (Sonoma Hwy) in Kenwood Ca. Sugarloaf is not a huge park but offers spectacular views from the high point - Bald Mtn. Elv 2700ft. The route to the top starts on Stern Trail on your left after you pass the entrance kiosk. (For the full altitude gain effect start in Kenwood). Climb up Stern until you come to your first RIGHT, Bald Mtn. Trail. Go around the gate and start climbing BMT on the narrow paved access rd. This section is paved to provide access to the radio site on the summit. This makes for good winter riding. 1/2 mile from the summit BMT veers onto an upaved fire road which takes you to the summit. The views from the summit are spectacular! You can see Marin County, San Francisco Bay as well as scenic points in every other direction.

Looking down at the end of the paved section on the way to the summit.
